UIPO History

UIPO was founded in Fall 2008 to serve as a confidential communication channel for scholarly communications officers, copyright officers and those with similar positions at universities, research libraries and similar institutions.

The Association of Research Libraries hosted our mailing list from the group’s inception until July 2020, when UIPO became an independent organization.

University Information Policy Officers, Inc. incorporated and was granted 501(c)3 status in 2024.
