To provide professional enrichment to members and other copyright and information policy professionals, in service to the broader educational community.
Our members are engaged in the professional practice and discussion of copyright and related legal and information policy issues in academic, cultural heritage, and adjacent institutions.
The group is a deep resource for learning, sharing, and professional development.
UIPO was founded in Fall 2008 to serve as a confidential communication channel for scholarly communications officers, copyright officers and those with similar positions at universities, research libraries and similar institutions.
The Association of Research Libraries hosted our mailing list from the group’s inception until July 2020, when UIPO became an independent organization.
